It began, as most revolutions do, in a garage. Houston, Texas. 1991. A muggy summer afternoon. Somewhere between the smell of motor oil and the quiet hum of possibility, a man named Andy Vir scribbled blueprints that would defy the very nature of laundry.
An all-in-one washer-dryer, he mused—compact, efficient, and impossible, said the world. But Mr. Vir had heard “impossible” before. He simply didn’t listen. And so, Equator was born—not with grand speeches or ticker-tape parades, but with a whisper of invention and a deeply practical dream: make everyday chores less… everyday.
