The product can be run continuously. It has got overheat protection. When water is full the tank needs to be emptied, or the discharge pipe should be connected.

Can you put this in a bed of a truck and run the hose through the back window?

Yes that would work great. Keep in mind that the unit is for outdoors only, so as long as you keep the base in the back of the truck bed, this should work great.
